TrollStore Installation Guide — All Methods (2026)
How to install TrollStore on iPhone without a computer or jailbreak. Supports iOS 14–16.7 and some iOS 17 versions. Permanent IPA installation with no certificate expiry.
TrollStore is a permanent IPA installer for iPhone. Unlike AltStore or Sideloadly, apps installed via TrollStore don't expire after 7 days and don't need certificate refreshes. The tradeoff: it only works on specific iOS versions.
TrollStore Compatibility#
TrollStore exploits vulnerabilities that Apple has patched in newer iOS versions. Support depends entirely on your iOS version:
| iOS Version | Support |
|---|---|
| iOS 14.0 – 14.8.1 | ✅ Full support |
| iOS 15.0 – 15.8.3 | ✅ Full support |
| iOS 16.0 – 16.7 | ✅ Full support |
| iOS 16.7.x (some) | ⚠️ Limited — check TrollStore GitHub |
| iOS 17.0 | ✅ TrollStore 2 + TrollInstallerMD |
| iOS 17.0.1+ | ❌ Not supported |
| iOS 18.x | ❌ Not supported |
First step: Check ios.cfw.guide↗ for your exact iOS version status.
What TrollStore Can Do#
- Install any IPA permanently (no expiry, no re-signing)
- Run apps with entitlements Apple doesn't allow on the App Store
- Install older versions of apps
- Run tweaked IPAs and modified apps
TrollStore is not a jailbreak — it doesn't give root access, doesn't enable arbitrary code execution as root, and doesn't bypass SIP or other core security features.
Installation Method 1: TrollInstallerMD (iOS 14–16.7)#
TrollInstallerMD is the recommended method — no computer required.
Step 1: Install TrollHelper#
- On your iPhone, open Safari and go to misaka.app/trollstore↗ or the official TrollStore GitHub releases page
- Tap the link to install TrollHelper — it will ask to install a configuration profile
- Tap Allow, then go to Settings → General → VPN & Device Management and trust it
- Open the installed TrollHelper app
Step 2: Install TrollStore#
- In TrollHelper, tap Install TrollStore
- Your device will restart (normal — this is part of the installation)
- After restart, TrollStore will be on your home screen
Step 3: Install Persistence Helper#
This is critical — TrollStore needs a persistence helper to survive iOS updates.
- Open TrollStore
- Tap Settings → Install Persistence Helper
- Choose any system app that you don't use (Tips app is recommended)
- The chosen app becomes the persistence helper
If TrollStore stops working after an iOS update, open the Tips app (or whichever you chose) and it will offer to reinstall TrollStore.
Installation Method 2: TrollInstallerX (Computer Required)#
For older iOS versions where TrollInstallerMD isn't available:
Requires: Mac or Windows PC, iTunes/Finder
- Download TrollInstallerX from the official GitHub
- Connect your iPhone to your computer
- Run TrollInstallerX, select your iPhone, click Install
- Follow the on-screen instructions
- TrollStore will install and a restart prompt will appear
Installing Apps with TrollStore#
Once TrollStore is installed:
- Download an IPA file to your iPhone (via Safari, Files, email, etc.)
- In the Files app, tap the IPA file
- Tap Share → TrollStore in the share sheet
- TrollStore will install it — app appears on home screen immediately
- No certificate trust step needed. No expiry.
Troubleshooting#
TrollStore disappeared after iOS update#
Open your Persistence Helper app (Tips or whichever you set) — it will reinstall TrollStore.
"Installation Failed: Incompatible Architecture"#
The IPA is built for a different CPU architecture. Find a universal IPA.
TrollHelper won't install#
Some iOS builds have addressed the TrollHelper installation vector. Check the official TrollStore GitHub for the current recommended installation method for your exact iOS build.
App installed via TrollStore crashes on launch#
The IPA may require specific entitlements or a UDID provision. Check if the IPA was built for general use or if it's a developer build targeting a specific device.
Frequently Asked Questions#
Does TrollStore survive a factory reset? No. After a factory reset or restoring via iTunes/Finder, you'll need to reinstall TrollStore.
Will apps installed via TrollStore survive iOS updates? Usually yes — the apps themselves survive. TrollStore itself may need reinstalling via the Persistence Helper. Re-open the Persistence Helper app after any iOS update.
Is TrollStore safe? TrollStore itself, from the official GitHub (opa334/TrollStore), is safe and well-reviewed. Only install IPAs from sources you trust — TrollStore removes signing restrictions, meaning a malicious IPA has more scope to do damage.
Can I install App Store apps via TrollStore? You can install IPA files of App Store apps (if you have them legitimately), but purchased apps tied to Apple DRM won't launch. Unencrypted IPAs work fine.
Does TrollStore void my warranty? No. TrollStore is not a jailbreak, doesn't modify system files permanently, and Apple's warranty terms don't cover sideloading tools specifically.
My iOS version isn't supported. What are my options? Your options are: AltStore (7-day re-signing), AltStore PAL (EU, notarised), or waiting for a TrollStore update that covers your version. Downgrading iOS is rarely possible.
